Dear Parents and Guardians,

As your student prepares to enter 12th grade, this letter is to inform you of an important immunization requirement. State and school health regulations require all students entering 12th grade to have a meningococcal A booster vaccination on file. This booster provides continued protection against meningococcal disease and is mandatory for school attendance during the senior year.

Please be advised that students must be at least 16 years of age in order to receive the meningococcal booster. If your child is already 16 years old, or will be turning 16 soon, you may schedule this vaccination with your child’s healthcare provider at your earliest convenience.  

In addition, Carlsbad Municipal Schools will be hosting a vaccine clinic on February 12th from 4 pm-6 pm and February 13 from 8 am-11 am. The location is Eddy Training
Center, 700 W Stevens Carlsbad, New Mexico. This clinic is an opportunity for students who meet the age requirement to receive the meningococcal booster prior to starting their senior year.

Once the booster has been administered, please submit updated immunization documentation to the school health office as soon as possible to ensure compliance before the start of 12th grade.
